The band numbered 82 and our energetic conductors whipped us into shape for our performances; one in Moon Park Township on a sultry Friday evening; and one on Saturday afternoon in the beautifully air-conditioned Masonic Theatre. Much of the country was suffering with the heat that week and Pittsburgh was no exception.”
